The Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer program has added Joe Schulman to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2008 season.
Schulman is no stranger to the Indiana Wesleyan men's soccer program. He spent several years at Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado and assisted with the boys soccer program. That relationship has aided in bringing some Colorado Springs players to Indiana Wesleyan.
"Joe brings a wealth of soccer experience to our program," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Mark Castro."He knows the game and has developed many outstanding young athletes, not only in the realm of soccer, but in becoming young men of integrity. Joe will definitely help take our program to the next level.I am excited to have him aboard!"
While at Liberty, Schulman was the assistant coach for three state championship teams; 1996, 2004 and 2006. In addition to his previous coaching experience at several other Colorado Springs high schools (head coach Lewis-Palmer boys and Palmer girls), Schulman has coached club soccer at the highest level for 24 consecutive years between Florida and Colorado. Schulman has spent 12 years with the Pride Soccer Club in Colorado Springs, where his team captured a state championship.
Additionally, he served on their coaching committee with the clubs Executive Director for three years during their most significant growth period. He has coached two years of college at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, the Southern Colorado Olympic Development program and many college camps and clinics over the years.
During his coaching career, Schulman has directly assisted in placing over 45 players in the college ranks (including one that captained the NAIA national championship team in 2007).
Schulman has a USSF National "C" license. Schulman is married with one grown son and two grand children and has a full-time career in Sales.
