MARION, Ind. — Indiana Wesleyan Club Men's Soccer secured its first home victory of the season Thursday afternoon, defeating Indiana Tech 4-3 at Troyer Soccer Field.
The Wildcats produced an impressive attacking display, building a 4-1 advantage before withstanding a late Indiana Tech comeback to secure all three points. The victory also marked Coach Justin Devlin's first collegiate win as a head coach.

FIRST HALF
The Wildcats started the match with intensity, taking control early and establishing a 2-0 lead inside the opening 25 minutes. IWU's first goal came following an effective pressing sequence that forced a mistake from the Indiana Tech goalkeeper. The loose ball fell into the half-space, where Eli Falkenberg reacted quickly and fired a first-time effort from approximately 20 yards into the empty net. The Wildcats doubled their advantage shortly afterward when Gabe Carrao produced a composed finish, curling the ball beyond the Indiana Tech goalkeeper to make it 2-0. Indiana Tech responded by making adjustments to its approach, which helped the visitors find a goal before halftime and reduce the deficit to one.

SECOND HALF
IWU opened the second half on the front foot, continuing to apply pressure and create opportunities in the attacking third. The Wildcats were rewarded in the 61st minute when Connor Clark delivered an excellent ball toward the back post. Sam Herman timed his run perfectly and connected with a first-time volley, sending the ball into the top corner to restore IWU's two-goal advantage. Indiana Tech continued to push forward in search of another goal, committing additional numbers to the attack. The Wildcats capitalized on the space left behind the visiting defense. Just four minutes later, Falkenberg scored his second goal of the match. The forward won a one-on-one foot race, used his strength to hold off the defender and calmly finished the opportunity to put IWU ahead 4-1. The physical demands of playing two matches in less than 48 hours began to take their toll on the Wildcats, with four IWU players forced to leave the field with cramping. Indiana Tech took advantage of the situation and continued to apply pressure, scoring twice late in the match to bring the score to 4-3. Freshman goalkeeper Caleb Reveter produced several outstanding saves during the closing stages to preserve the Wildcats' lead and help IWU see out the victory.

COACH'S CORNER
Following the match, Coach Justin reflected on the team's performance: "We tweaked a few things from Tuesday night, which helped us play the way we wanted to. It was a fun, end-to-end game.Credit to Indy Tech. They are a great team who fought until the very last whistle. Thankfully, we were able to hold on and secure all three points." The victory was particularly significant for Coach Justin, who recorded his first win as a collegiate head coach.
