1975 BASEBALL

PROGRAM'S FIRST CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

The 1975 Marion College Baseball Team secures its place in the IWU Hall of Honor on the 50th anniversary of the baseball program’s first conference championship. The team posted an impressive 10-2 conference record en route to claiming the league title. Dave Arrendale anchored the pitching staff with a 4-1 MCC record with 31 strikeouts in 24 innings. Shortstop, Don Shelmon, led the team at the plate with 15 hits and a .405 average. Barry Lauber hit a team-high three home runs, and Mike Broughton collected 15 RBIs. The team as a whole outscored its MCC opponents 82-41 in the 12 conference games. Together, this group laid the groundwork for decades of baseball excellence at Indiana Wesleyan, leaving a lasting impression on the field and in the record books.

Ryan Biegel Hall of Honor

RYAN BIEGEL

 MEN'S BASKETBALL + TRACK & FIELD | 1994-1998

Ryan Biegel, a versatile competitor for Indiana Wesleyan from 1994 to 1998, earns his place in the Hall of Honor for outstanding achievements across both track & field and men’s basketball. On the track, Biegel rose to national recognition with a third-place finish in the high jump at the 1996 NAIA National Championships, earning All-American honors. His leap of 7 feet remains one of the top marks in IWU history. A three-time NCCAA All-American in track & field, he consistently performed at a high level throughout his career. On the hardwood, Biegel added another chapter to his legacy, helping lead IWU to the 1995 NCCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship while compiling 1,068 points, 481 rebounds, and 157 assists. His unique dual-sport impact places him among the most well-rounded athletes to wear a Wildcat uniform.

Thomas Collet Hall of Honor

THOMAS COLLET

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD | 2007-2010

Thomas Collet, who competed from 2007 to 2010, established himself as a dominant presence in the long jump and now takes his well-earned place in the IWU Hall of Honor. Collet claimed national recognition with his NAIA Long Jump Championship in 2010, a crowning moment in a career filled with highlights. He earned three NAIA All-American awards and played a key role in helping IWU secure three Crossroads League Outdoor Team Championships. His record-setting leap of 7.61 meters (24 feet, 11.75 inches) remains the program record at the time of his induction. With eight NCCAA All-American honors, Collet’s steady progression and technical mastery elevated both his personal results and the program’s reputation on the national stage.

She reached the summit of her event in 2004, capturing the NAIA National Championship with a jump of 1.70 meters (5 feet, 7 inches). A two-time NAIA All-American and two-time NCCAA National Champion, Eckhardt blended precision and poise in her performances. Her deep passion for the university transcended generations, culminating in her trailblazing appointment as the first female Athletic Director at Marion College. Millie also served as the first woman to lead the Alumni Association as both President and Executive Director. In recognition of her decades of service, IWU named Troyer Fieldhouse in her honor in 2011.
