MARION, Ind. - No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan Men's Soccer welcomed No. 24 Governors State for an evening match to close out August. IWU flew out the gate, putting up 6 shots in the first 15 minutes. The Wildcats stayed aggressive and forced the Jaguars to play on their heels. As the defense picked up, tension built on both sides and frustration set in causing the physicality to rise. The shots kept coming from the Wildcats making the GSU keeper work hard as they finished with 10 shots in the first half. Coming out of the half still tied at 0-0, IWU started out the second period like they did the first. Within the first 15 minutes, Indiana Wesleyan registered 3 corner kicks and 4 shots. The defensive back and forth continued until Eliass Elfasoukhi received a ball from Yarek Carnegie outside the goalkeeper box and sniped a left footed shot over and around the outstretched arms of the keeper that bounced off the right post and into the back of the net. IWU held onto the 1-0 lead for the rest of the match and came away with the win over a NAIA Top 25 opponent.
