MARION, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan is excited to announce the hiring of Hannah Shay as the new head coach of the Women's Soccer program.
"When this process began, our goal was to find a coach that would embody both competitive excellence and a desire to follow Christ. I believe we have found that in Hannah, and I look forward to watching her lead our women's soccer team," said
Deane Webb, Director of Athletics. "Hannah displayed Christlike humility, calm confidence, and the right amount of fiery competitiveness during our conversations. It is what we hope will be instilled in each of our student athletes as they live their lives as an IWU student and a member of our women's soccer program."
Shay arrives at IWU after spending the past four years as an Assistant Coach at NCAA D2 Cedarville University. In her time there, she helped lead the Yellow Jackets to three NCAA D2 National Tournament appearances. They also won one regular season conference champion title and were ranked No. 1 in the NCCAA three times from 2021-2023. Before coaching at Cedarville, Shay was an Assistant Coach at NCAA D1 St. Bonaventure (NY) for two seasons.
In her playing days, Shay was a two time team captain at Cedarville University. As captain, she lead the team as a defender to a G-MAC championship title and a NCAA D2 National Tournament appearance in 2015. Shay was a influential defender and helped the team to a record number of consecutive shutouts in the 2014 season.
"I want to thank Athletic Director,
Deane Webb, as well as the search committee for the opportunity to teach, train, and mentor student-athletes as we pursue excellence together," said Shay. "I'd also like to thank my husband Ryan and family for their belief in me and encouragement. I am honored and excited to join a staff that is committed to competing for Christ and proclaiming His name."
Shay graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biology from Cedarville University in 2017. She also earned a master's degree in Theological Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2019.
