INDIANA WESLEYAN COMES IN AT NO. 2 IN LEARFIELD DIRECTORS' CUP WINTER STANDINGS

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Indiana Wesleyan Athletics sits in second place in the winter standings of the 2024-25 NAIA LEARFIELD Directors' Cup. The Wildcats had 435.5 points after the fall and will head into the spring with 792.25 points. Last year, IWU had 759.5 points at the conclusion of winter sports and went on to claim the department's sixth-consecutive Top-5 finish.

The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the NAIA winter championships of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's bowling, men's and women's swim & dive, men's and women's indoor track & field, men's and women's wrestling, competitive cheer, and competitive dance.

Indiana Wesleyan is trailing No. 1 University of the Cumberland by 213.75 points. The Wildcats lead the Crossroads League with a lead of 88.5 points over No. 3 Marian University. Women's basketball brought in the department's highest numbers, recording 90 after their 2nd place finish at the NAIA National Championships. Cheer was just behind with 70 points for their 5th place finish. A 1-Meter Diving National Championship for Macy Schmidtgall helped lead women's swim & dive to 60 points, followed by men's indoor track & field with 57.75. Men's basketball added 50 points and men's swim & dive earned 29 points.

"Very proud of and thankful for our teams and their pursuit of excellence while influencing others for Christ," said Deane Webb, IWU Director of Athletics. "A special congratulations to women's basketball, competitive cheer, and men's cross country teams for their recent top 5 finishes, and to Macy Schmidtgall for her diving national championship!"

The Wildcats are joined by one other Crossroads League team in the Top 10 and four other programs in the Top 40 following winter sports.
  • No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan University
  • No. 3 Marian University
  • No. 19 Spring Arbor University
