MISHAWAKA, Ind. - No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan Men's Soccer faced off with No. 4 Bethel University to decide the no. 1 team in the conference on Wednesday evening. The No. 4 Pilots played up to their rank and beat out IWU for the top seed in next week's conference tournament. The first period saw IWU's defense effectively counter BU's offensive efforts. Sam Goodin made two blocks against shots from Julian Vargas Talamantes, maintaining a stalemate early in the match. Kadin Wolfe also contributed with a key save in the 20th minute, ensuring the match remained scoreless. The Wildcats were only able to fire off one shot in the half as Bethel's defense was able to counter any attack. As the period concluded, both teams were unable to find the back of the net, closing the half with a 0-0 scoreline. The Pilots opened the scoring in the 51st minute and never let up the advantage. Bethel extended the lead in the 75th minute and IWU was unable to counter. Wolfe played valiantly in goal recording a career high seven saves. IWU maintains the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Crossroads League Conference Tournament starting Tuesday, November 4th.
