#BOTHAND: FOOTBALL SPENDS WORK WEEK AT KANAKUK

BRANSON, Mo. - The Indiana Wesleyan football team embarked on an exciting journey last week as they gather their juniors and headed to Kanakuk in Branson, Missouri. Their purpose? To go on a transformative experience that would shape them into exemplary leaders. During this highly anticipated week, the Wildcats not only prepared the Kanakuk facilities for kids to come to camp this summer, but also engaged in opportunities to take the next step in their faith journey and grow more unified as a team. The overarching goals of this opportunity were to encounter Christ, build unity, develop leadership, be challenged, and have fun.

"We are were excited for our juniors to be in Branson," said Andrew Rode, Head Football Coach. "We spent the week serving, growing as men, working out, having fun, and seeking an encounter with Christ. The unity, growth, and memories that the juniors created during this trip will give them a great platform to lead this team from as we prepare for the summer and fall. I am so proud of them for sacrificing a week to take time to serve Kanakuk Kamps as they prepared their facilities for kids and have their lives changed this summer."

Established in 1926, Kanakuk Kamp stands as a beacon of inspiration, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders. Their core philosophy revolves around the powerful mantra of "I am Third." This principle emphasizes a mentality of putting God first, others second, and yourself third. Embodying this principle, the Wildcats dedicated an entire week to assisting in the preparation of Kanakuk's facilities, ensuring that they are fully equipped to facilitate life-altering experiences for the countless children who will attend their summer camps. Over the years, Kanakuk's transformative summer programs have touched the lives of more than 450,000 young individuals, leaving a lasting mark on their spiritual development.

IWU's involvement at Kanakuk goes far beyond a mere week of service. It is a testament to Coach Rode's "One Blood" culture that he has established within the football program. "One Blood is the heartbeat of this team," says Rode. "We seek to develop a deeply unified team that strives to push each other towards Christ and to be better men on and off the field." Through their dedicated efforts, the team not only contributed to the mission of Kanakuk, but also strengthened their own sense of purpose as a team. This immersive experience fostered a profound sense of unity among the Wildcats, forging unbreakable bonds that transcend the boundaries of the football field. As they engaged in physical labor, stepped into heartfelt conversations, and embarked on new adventures together, they discovered the true essence of teamwork, accountability, and perseverance.

This week at Kanakuk represented a transformative journey for the Wildcat football team. It was an opportunity for personal growth, leadership development, and the strengthening of their faith. Guided by the principles of "One Blood" and the "I Am Third" mentality, the Wildcat juniors embodied the true essence of family, humility, and service. The impact of this experience undoubtedly resonated within each player, shaping them into exceptional leaders, both on and off the field, as they continue their journey into this next season."
