NO. 15 MEN'S SOCCER SECURES SENIOR DAY VICTORY AGAINST MVNU

MARION, Ind. - No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan men's soccer secured the second win of their three-game home campaign, defeating Mount Vernon Nazarene 4-2. The Wildcats were once again strong on their attack, with sophomore Jose Garcia tallying three assists on the day and sophomore Brandon Nyagurungo scoring twice. After a great result on Senior Night, IWU holds sole possession of third place in the Crossroads League standings with two games left to play in the regular season.

  • Senior Giuseppe Santacroce scored his seventh goal of the season in the eighth minute, assisted by Tim Slusarczyk
  • Brandon Nyagurungo found the back of the net in the 30th minute after a great ball from Jose Garcia, his first in the game. 
  • Austin Keate slotted his first goal of the season in the back of the net in the 30th minute, assisted by Jose Garcia.
  • Mount Vernon Nazarene's Keon Boney scored off a penalty in the 51st minute.  
  • Boney scored his second goal in the 61st minute to make it 3-2. 
  • The 69th minute saw Brandon Nyagurungo secure his second goal after another great find from Jose Garcia, tallying his third assist on the day.

  • 14: The Wildcats started their attack quickly in the first half, resulting in 14 shots taken by halftime. 
  • 9: IWU found nine shots on target of their 21 shots, composing threats throughout the entirety of the game.
  • 3: Jose Garcia was carving the Mount Vernon Nazarene defense with three assists, totaling 12 on the year to lead the conference.
