MEN'S SOCCER CONCLUDES SEASON AFTER LOSS TO NO. 15 COLUMBIA IN NAIA FIRST ROUND

MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan men's soccer took to the pitch Thursday night on the campus of Georgia Gwinnett College for their match against No. 15 Columbia (Mo.) in the 2022 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship First Round. The Wildcats drew first blood at the 15 minute mark, but Columbia countered with two goals in the first half on their way to the 3-1 victory. The Wildcats conclude their 2022 season with an 11-5-4 overall record, the most wins for the program since 2017.

  • Jose Pizarro gave the Wildcats early life with a upper-90 strike off a volley from 18 yards out.
  • A shot to the lower left corner found its way past Aaron Carr and gave the Cougars an an equalizer 20 mintutes later.
  • Columbia scored the eventual game-winner off a scramble play in front of the goal after a set-piece just before halftime.
  • IWU gave up another goal in the second half and were unable to capitalize on their opportunities before falling 3-1.
