MARION, Ind. - Despite a unique and challenging 2020-21 year, Indiana Wesleyan Athletics is proud to highlight the accomplishments of the department's four core values: Spiritual Growth, Leadership Development, Academic Achievement, and Athletic Excellence during this past sports season.
DEPARTMENT AWARDS
SPIRITUAL GROWTH
- Below are a couple examples of how God moved in our teams this year!
- Men's Soccer
- I think the biggest thing the Lord taught us this year is that hardships and disappointments are actually His Grace. We walked through a lot of individual ones, specific to players that eventually ended our season and never allowed us to follow up the spring like we ended the fall. Through it all, God was and is faithful. We may not been able to complete our fall success by being in the national tournament, but along the way we saw lives changed, one player baptized, and a refocus on His love.
- Women's Basketball
- The FabFour run will always be defined by the "Joyride" we went on. The devotions in the hotel and the encounters with the holy spirit - on and off the floor - led to transformation. To me, those experiences were the biggest win of of our National Tournament.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
- 18UNITED was launched for a way to grow and come together during a global pandemic. The Monday gatherings united community leaders, coaches, players, alumni, and the random fan to lead in a different way and find ways to encourage those around us!
- The program grew when fall hit with the creation oif Unit3D roundtables. the UNIT3D Roundtables were designed to be a transformational context to give space for the Holy Spirit to create increasing levels of Kingdom unity in the midst of a moment of cultural division. Creating a curriculum designed around the full biblical narrative and infused with Scripture, was meant to expand the vision of the gospel, initiate Kingdom action and create real movement for the 200 athletes who signed up. Over 120 specific 'fearless commitments' were made to follow the Holy Spirit's lead toward deeper levels of Kingdom unity.
