Women's Cross Country Finishes Ninth at NAIA National Championships

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Indiana Wesleyan women's cross country hit the course Friday, participating in the 2021 NAIA National Cross Country Championships. The race took place at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Championship Course.

Heading into the meet ranked No. 15 in the NAIA, the Wildcats would finish ninth overall, and they were led by Jenna Couwenhoven who earned All-American status with a 14th place finish!

FOSS PERSPECTIVE
  • We really struggled with injuries this fall and in October it looked unlikely that we would qualify for nationals. These ladies learned to run free and worship in the midst of adversity. Led by the 3rd best place (14th) in Wildcat History, the team result was simply exciting.
  • We are blessed with an outstanding coaching staff. Lee Smith has been there throughout my career; Brian Dewey in his first year fit right in and Sarah McBeath, is without a doubt, the best young coach in the NAIA. Having our Head Track and Field Coach, Caleb Snyder along was also a huge benefit.
