MEN'S SOCCER FALLS IN CROSSROADS LEAGUE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP

MISHAWAKA, Ind. - A magical run in the Crossroads League Tournament came to an end Saturday, as Indiana Wesleyan men's soccer fell to Bethel University in penalty kicks.

Neither team could net a goal after 110 minutes of action, sending the match into penalty kicks for the third straight contest for IWU.

The Pilots would apply most of the offensive pressure during the match, landing five of their 13 shots on frame. The Wildcats mustered just five total shots in the contest, with zero falling on frame. The offensive pressure would also give BU the upper hand on corner kicks, taking six more than IWU.

The physical Championship match resulted in 30 fouls, with four yellow cards and one red card being awarded.

REEB PERSPECTIVE
  • I'm very disappointed in the result because our guys played their hearts out and gave a conference championship effort. Even though we were on the losing side, we are still hopeful for an at-large bid into the national tournament. Nonetheless, I am extremely proud to have coached this group of guys and this senior class. I have seen God eternally work in and through their lives, and I am beyond grateful to have been a small part of it.

NEXT TIME OUT
  • The Wildcats finish the season with a record of 10-5-5, the most wins in a season since 2017.
  • They will find out Monday is they receive an at-large bid into the NAIA National Tournament.
