GOLDEN GOAL LIFTS WILDCATS OVER TROJANS

MARION, Ind. - RV Indiana Wesleyan men's soccer defeated Taylor University this evening 2-1 in overtime.  This was the second overtime matchup of the week for both teams.  Wildcats have not lost to the Trojans since October 18, 2011 and hold a 12-1 record against Taylor dating back to 2006.  
 
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Scoreless first half saw a lot of back-and-forth action and a total of four shots between the two teams.
  • 53-minute mark, Malik Ibrahim headed a cross pass from Giuseppe Santacroce to push one pass the goalie which put the Wildcats up 1-0.
  • Taylor tied the game up with a goal in lower left corner of the net at 66-minute mark.
  • Game headed into overtime with Taylor leading the offense with eight shots to IWU's four.
  • At 97-minute mark, Philipp Basara connected on a cross pass from Maclain Hastings for the golden goal. This marks Hastings' first assist and Basara's sixth goal on the season.
