Box Score HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan men’s soccer struck first Saturday, but late heroics by Huntington sunk IWU 3-1 to end their season. IWU held HU scoreless for 60 minutes before the Foresters went on a scoring frenzy, netting goals in the 60th, 82nd, and 86th minute.
SANFORD PERSPECTIVE
- This loss obviously stings. The seniors have been a tremendous group of people to work with and we will miss them. Today I think we ran out of gas. We’ve played our last two games in must-win scenarios and it’s exhausting. Today’s game is tough to swallow because we were up a goal. Credit Huntington as they really brought energy and willed the game in their favor. I’m proud to coach this team and am grateful to this team and my staff. I really think we have things heading in a great direction at the end of the season, and I’m excited to build on that looking towards next year.
NEXT TIME ON THE PITCH
- IWU ends the 2018 season with a record of 9-7-3.
