Men's Soccer Plays to tie on Senior Night

Box Score

CONVERSE, IN. – Indiana Wesleyan men’s soccer held their one-goal lead Wednesday for 33 minutes before Taylor University tied the score at one apiece in the 77th minute. Sammy Conti fired off a career-best nine shots, helping IWU maintain position for most of the first half. This is the first positive result for the Trojans since a 2013 tie against IWU. The Wildcats have owned the last ten meetings, boasting a record of 7-1-2. Ciro Castro who netted the lone goal for IWU has scored in his last two matches for the Wildcats.

SANFORD PERSPECTIVE

  • We’re obviously disappointed in the result. Taylor really brought some energy in the second period. The way we controlled the first half and then to lose our way a bit, that just can’t happen. We have to keep teams from taking the game to us. I still believe there’s a lot for this team to accomplish, but it’s going to take consistency and some better performances.

NEXT TIME ON THE PITCH

  • IWU heads to Bethel Saturday for a 7 p.m. start.
