Women?s T&F Wins Third Consecutive Crossroads League Championship

MARION, Ind. -- For the third year in a row and fourth out of five years the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s track and field team is the Crossroads League champion. Indiana Wesleyan captured the championship as they defeated runner-up Taylor (Ind.) by 22 points. It is the 10th league championship on the women’s side.

League Champion!

  • Five Wildcats doubled their championship fun with individual titles during the two day championship.
  • Corrine Melvin (JR/Casstown, Ohio) won the 100-Meter Dash in a time of 12.51 seconds. She had the fourth best time in the Thursday prelims and won the finals by .06 seconds.
  • Sarah McBeath (JR/Lehigh Acres, Fla.) gained the 1,500-Meter Run title with a time of 4:44.91. There were 20 total runners in the race.
  • Angel Osladil (SR/Gibson City, Ill.) earned the league championship in the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase. Osladil won the event by seven seconds with a time of 11:25.43.
  • On Thursday, Allison Trevithick (SR/Mitchell, Ind.) pulled out the win in the High Jump with a height of 5 feet 5 inches.
  • Nicole Schneider (JR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) won the Discus championship on Thursday. She had a winning throw of 136 feet 11 inches.

     

All-League Performers!

  • Indiana Wesleyan had 22 All-Crossroads League performances by finishing in the top-three of their events.
  • Emily Rupp (JR/Stryker, Ohio) took third place in the 400-Meter Dash with a time of 59.60 seconds. There were 17 runners in the event.
  • Sarah McBeath picked up a second All-League honor in the 800-Meter Run to go along with her 1,500 championship. McBeath finished third place in the 800 with a time of 2:19.05.
  • Jailyn Krantz (FR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) was runner-up in the 100-Meter Hurdles. Krantz crossed the line in 15.29 seconds.
  • The 4x100-Meter Relay team crossed the line in the third place with a time of 49.27 seconds. Running the relay were Corrine Melvin, Paige Lowe (FR/Brownsburg, Ind.), Emily Rupp, and Emily Bantz (JR/West College Corner, Ind.).
  • The 4x400-Meter Relay team ran a time of 3:57.78 in the final event of the championship and was the second team across the line. Emily Rupp, Allison Trevithick, Talia Benware (SR/Wheaton, Ill.), and Emily Bantz were in the relay for Indiana Wesleyan.
  • The 4x800-Meter Relay team gained a third place mark with a time of 9:31.45. Emily Bantz, Isabel Wharton (SR/Laurel, Del.), Lauren Hamilton (JR/Spencerville, Ind.), and Sarah McBeath earned All-League in the relay.
  • Christie Huston (SO/West Unity, Ohio) earned third place in the High Jump on Thursday with a jump of 5 feet 1 inch.
  • Sarah Heagy (SR/Warsaw, Ind.) was runner-up in the Hammer Throw. She had a mark of 154 feet 8 inches to place second of 21 throwers.
     

 

Extra! Extra!

  • Allison Trevithick became a four-time Crossroads League champion in the High Jump.
  • Emily Bantz earned All-Crossroads League recognition in all three relays.

  • Indiana Wesleyan competes on Wednesday at the Illinois Invitational in Champaign, Illinois.
