GOSHEN, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University won back-to-back Crossroads League Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Goshen, Indiana.
The victory is the second straight for the Wildcats and third in four years. Indiana Wesleyan scored 218 points to easily defeat Bethel (Ind.) with 170 points. Taylor was a distant third place at 128 points.
Indiana Wesleyan won only two individual Crossroads League championships and both came during the first day of competition on Friday. Allison Trevithick (JR/Mitchell, Ind.) won the High Jump with a height of 1.65-meters while Katherine Arch (JR/Iowa City, Iowa) won the 10,000-Meter Run in a time of 38 minutes 11.67 seconds.
In the 21 events at the Crossroads League Championship, Indiana Wesleyan boasted 20 All-League performances. The top three finishers in each event were named All-Crossroads League. Head coach John Foss was named Crossroads League Women’s Coach of the Year following the meet.
Emily Stearns (SR/Holland, Mich.) was a double All-League performer. Stearns finished second in the Discus with a throw of 41.29-meters and was second in the Javelin with a distance of 34.86-meters.
The Wildcats had four events where they had two All-League performers.
Christie Huston (FR/West Unity, Ohio) had a jump of 1.60-meters for second place in the High Jump as she was behind only Trevithick. Holli Leslie (JR/Indianapolis, Ind.) was second in the Triple Jump with a mark of 10.55-meters. Lauren Stutzman (JR/Goshen, Ind.) placed third at 10.47-meters.
Julie Kamp (JR/Frankfort, Ill.) and Sarah McBeath (SO/Lehigh Acres, Fla.) doubled up in the 800-Meter Run. Kamp finished second in 2:19.21 while McBeath took third place in 2:19.57. McBeath was second to cross the line in the 1,500-Meter Run with a time of 4:43.06 while Isabel Wharton (JR/Laurel, Del.) finished right behind her in third place in 4:52.28.
Hannah Williams (SO/Navon, Pa.) was runner-up in the 400-Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:05.65 and Sarah Heagy (JR/Warsaw, Ind.) was second in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 45.15-meters. Megan Sanchez (SO/Hudsonville, Mich.) was second across the finish line in the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase in 11:48.62 while the 4x400-Meter Relay team ran a 3:58.76 to take second place in a photo finish.
Allix Miller (SR/Muskegon, Mich.) claimed third place in the 400-Meter Run in 59.77 seconds while Taylor Hite (SR/Ligonier, Ind.) was also third place in the 5,000-Meter Run as she finished the race in 18:46.74.
Indiana Wesleyan provided three All-League performances on Friday. The 4x800-Meter Relay team earned a third place showing in a time of 9:35.29. Dayna Gallo (SO/Porter, Ind.) was runner-up in the Pole Vault with a height of 3.60-meters while Christy Schultz (SO/Muskegon, Mich.) was second place in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.74-meters.
