GOSHEN, Ind. -- Marian (Ind.) edged Indiana Wesleyan University for the title at the Crossroads League Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Goshen (Ind.) this weekend.
Marian held a 2.5 point lead heading into the final event, the 4x400-Meter Relay. Marian clinched the league title with a victory in the race as Indiana Wesleyan was third place with a time of 3 minutes 22.95 seconds.
Marian scored 189.5 points over the two day meet. Indiana Wesleyan was second with 183 points while Bethel (Ind.) was third place at 168 points.
Indiana Wesleyan earned 7 individual league championships and 15 All-League performances in the 21 events contested. The top three in an event earned All-League status.
The Wildcats boasted league champions with Jake Smith (SR/Dayton, Ohio) in the 110-Meter Hurdles with a time of 14.46 seconds, Andrew Hamilton (JR/Warren, Ohio) in the 400-Meter Hurdles in 55.61 seconds, and Steven Osladil (JR/Hanover, Pa.) in the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase as he crossed the line in 9:29.84.
Josh Neideck (FR/Upland, Ind.) won the 800-Meter Run in a time of 1:57.26. He was joined by Connor McKnight (JR/Berea, Ohio) in the race as All-League performers as McKnight took third place in 1:59.44.
Three Wildcats earned Crossroads League individual championships on Friday during the first day of competition. Neno Bellinotti (JR/Swayzee, Ind.) won the 10,000-Meter Run in 30:53.84, Michael Moffitt (JR/Marion, Ind.) was first in the High Jump at 2.06-meters, and Dalen Beck (SO/Anderson, Ind.) had the best Long Jump with a distance of 7.24-meters.
Indiana Wesleyan had two All-League runners in the 5,000-Meter Run. Jacob Reinking (SO/Fort Wayne, Ind.) placed second in a time of 15:11.01 while Bellinotti was third place in 15:15.70. Tyler Laubach (JR/Walnutport, Pa.) gave Indiana Wesleyan three of the top four runners in the race with a fourth place finish in a time of 15:28.62.
Neideck tallied a pair of All-League efforts this weekend. Besides his win in the 800-Meter Run, Neideck claimed a runner-up finish in the 1,500-Meter Run in a time of 3:58.52. Noah Stratton (FR/Bluffton, Ohio) picked up a third place finish with a time of 49.75 seconds in the 400-Meter Run.
Three relay teams finished in the top three this weekend. The 4x800-Meter Relay team was second on Friday in a time of 7:47.07. The 4x100-Meter Relay team was third today in a time of 42.46 seconds while the 4x400-Meter Relay team took third as well in a time of 3:22.95.
