GRAND RAPID, Mich. -- Indiana Wesleyan University men’s cross country boasted a pair of wins Saturday as Neno Bellinotti (SO/Sweetser, Ind.) and the team both won in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge.
Seven NAIA Top-25 teams raced on Saturday and No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan won by 36 points. IWU amassed 48 points while No. 6 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) was runner-up at 84. No. 15 Aquinas (Mich.) placed third with 105 points, No. 19 Marian (Ind.) took fourth place with 114 points, No. 13 Taylor (Ind.) earned fifth place at 163 points, No. 12 Indiana Tech was sixth place at 187 points, and No. 18 Bethel (Ind.) finished seventh at 206 points. There were 26 total teams in the competition.
Pacing the Wildcat victory was Neno Bellinotti who won the race that featured 288 runners. He finished the wet 8,000-meter course in a time of 25 minutes 33 seconds.
Two other Wildcats placed in the top-10 as Jacob Reinking (JR/Ft. Wayne, Ind.) was seventh place in 26:00 and Tyler Laubach (SR/Walnutport, Pa.) earned ninth place at 26:07. John Wilson (SR/Angola, Ind.) was 13th place in a time of 26:24 and Josh Neideck (SO/Upland, Ind.) completed the IWU scoring with an 18th place finish in 26:36. Steven Osladil (SR/Hanover, Pa.) was 20th place in 26:45 and Nathan Gerrick took 26th place at 26:54.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action in two weeks when they take part in the Crossroads League Championship. The race will be held on November 7 at Huntington, Indiana.
