PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- Indiana Wesleyan University remains in seventh place at the NCCAA Women’s Golf National Championship being held at The Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Indiana Wesleyan was seventh place following first round play on Monday with a 380 but turned in the sixth best score during round two on Tuesday with a 350. Indiana Wesleyan heads into the third and final round on Wednesday with a team score of 730.
“I am so proud of my team and the way they played today,” said Wildcat head coach Julie Wagner. “We got four scores under 90 and took 30 strokes off our first day scoring. That is simply terrific for a course that is this difficult. They tried really hard to get into the sixth spot but putting kept us from doing that.”
Indiana Wesleyan trails Crossroads League rival Bethel (Ind.) by seven strokes as they have a 723 (369-356). IWU was six strokes better than Bethel on Tuesday.
Maggie Kaiser (JR/Belvidere, Ill.) and Carley LaPlant (SO/Adrian, Mich.) continue to mirror each other with identical scores for the second consecutive round. They are tied for 18th place as they both shot 178 (91-87) through two rounds. Rachel Thompson (SO/Avon, Ind.) is 28th place with a 184 (96-88) and Annika Harmon (FR/Jasper, Ind.) is 35th as she carded a 190 (102-88). Brooke Fullenkamp (FR/Valparaiso, Ind.) finished play today with a 198 (106-92) for 42nd place.
The final round of play at the NCCAA National Championship begins Wednesday morning.
