SILVIS, Ill. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men’s golf team began play at the NAIA Preview Invitational on Monday and sit in the top half of the field following the first round of play at TPC at Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
The Wildcats are 12th place midway through the tournament in the 24 team field. The team shot a 317 which is 12 strokes behind the leading team.
Coastal Georgia leads the field with a 302 while Marian (Ind.) is two strokes back at 304. Indiana Wesleyan is tied for 12th place with Culver-Stockton (Mo.) and St. Gregory’s (Okla.) at 317.
BJ White (JR/Sweetser, Ind.) leads the Wildcats with a first day score of 77 on the par 72 course. White is tied for 20th in the 120 player field. Jake Coffey (JR/Columbus, Ind.) is one stroke behind White with a 78 and is tied for 28th place and Ethan Luecke (SO/Warrenton, Mo.) carded a 79 and is tied for 40th place. Blake Russell (SR/Monticello, Ind.) is tied for 85th place with an 83 while Drew Cahill (SO/Terre Haute, Ind.) turned in an 84 for 91st position.
Tuesday will feature the second and final round of the NAIA Fall Preview Invitational.
