INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men’s track and field team earned third place on Saturday at the Crossroads League Championship which was hosted by Marian (Ind.) in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Host Marian won the league title with 176.5 points and Bethel (Ind.) was runner-up at 151 points. Indiana Wesleyan scored 129 points to edge Taylor (Ind.) with 123 points for third place.
The top three places in each event were named All-Crossroads League performers. Indiana Wesleyan earned five league marks today in addition to the three that won league honors on Friday. All-League performances on Friday were Nathan Raber (FR/Shipshewana, Ind.) (First - Pole Vault), Dalen Beck (FR/Anderson, Ind.) (First - Long Jump), and Desmond Sleigh (JR/Archbold, Ohio) (Third - Long Jump).
Indiana Wesleyan claimed three more league champions on Saturday in addition to Raber and Beck on Friday.
Jake Smith (JR/Dayton, Ohio) won the Men’s 110-Meter Hurdles with an NAIA ‘A’ qualifying time of 14.53 seconds. The time is his best of the season. Andrew Hamilton (SO/Warren, Ohio) earned the victory in the Men’s 400-Meter Hurdles in 54.47 seconds. He crossed the line with a ‘B’ standard. Andrew Albert (SR/Middlebury, Ind.) finished first in the Men’s 3,000-Meter Steeplechase in 9:26.95.
Albert also earned all-league status in the Men’s 5,000-Meter Run with a second place showing in 15:25.02. Jacob Reinking (FR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) was right behind Albert in third place as he crossed the line in 15:27.68.
Indiana Wesleyan continues postseason competition on May 1-3 at the NCCAA National Championship. The meet will be at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia.
