KENDALLVILLE, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men’s golf team held on to win the USF Cougar Invitational today by three strokes over Bethel (Ind.). The invitational was held at Cobblestone Golf Club in Kendallville, Indiana.
Eight of the nine teams shot higher scores today than they did on Friday as cold and windy weather arrived for the second round. Indiana Wesleyan finished the two round tournament with a 613 (298-315) and fended off Bethel with a 616 (303-313). Seven of the nine teams were Crossroads League programs.
Dalton Miller (SR/Jonesboro, Ind.) tied for individual runner-up and was one stroke behind the medalist from Bethel. Miller shot a two round total of 150 (75-75) to lead Indiana Wesleyan. Ethan Luecke (FR/Warrenton, Mo.) was tied for fifth with a 151 (75-76) as he was a single stroke behind Miller. Jake Coffey (SO/Columbus, Ind.) was tied for 18th at 155 (73-82), BJ White (SO/Sweetser, Ind.) tied for 26th position with a 159 (77-82), and Blake Russell (JR/Monticello, Ind.) tied for 42nd place at 166 (75-91).
Indiana Wesleyan will now travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to compete at the Cardinal Stritch Invitational. The two day invitational will be held at Brown Deere Park Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
