PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- The fall season is over for the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s golf team as the completed the NCCAA National Championship on Wednesday in Panama City Beach, Florida.
The Wildcats finished ninth of nine teams at the first ever NCCAA Women’s Golf National Championship. IWU shots a three round total of 1,188 with scores of 386, 399, and a Wednesday score of 403.
Shorter (Ga.) won the national championship by four strokes with a 936 (312-316-308). Dallas Baptist (Texas) was runner-up at 940 (307-318-315) while Lee (Tenn.) and Oklahoma Christian tied for third place at 946.
Maggie Kaiser (SO/Belvidere, Ill.) was the low card for the tournament for the Wildcats with a three-round score of 285 (91-98-96). Kaiser finished 36th in the 45-player field. Rachel Thompson (FR/Avon, Ind.) shot a 295 (100-95-100) for 38th position and Jessica Pegg (JR/Wabash, Ind.) turned in a 298 (93-102-103) for 40th place. Carley LaPlant (FR/Adrian, Mich.) shot a 316 (108-104-104) for 42nd position and Haley Elenbaas (JR/Byron Center, Mich.) earned a 317 (102-108-107) for 44th place.
The 2014 fall season is now in the books for Indiana Wesleyan. The team will return to action in the spring.
