Box Score MARION, Ind. -- No. 9-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University men’s soccer finished off a perfect Crossroads League season tonight with a 3-0 shutout of visiting Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) on Senior Night at Wildcat Field.
Indiana Wesleyan has won 14 consecutive matches to improve to 15-1-0 this year with an unblemished 9-0-0 mark in Crossroads League matches. IWU clinched the outright Crossroads League regular season championship on Wednesday with an overtime win at Spring Arbor (Mich.). Indiana Wesleyan has earned the No. 1-seed and home-field advantage for the upcoming Crossroads League Tournament.
The Wildcats scored the first goal of the evening in the 16th minute. Sam Kane (SR/Jackson, Mich.) found Tyrone Martin (SR/Indianapolis, Ind.) who beat the MVNU keeper for the 1-0 advantage. Seth Kintigh (JR/Concord, Mich.) scored 10 minutes later off an assist from Evan Young (SO/Colorado Springs, Colo.) as the Wildcats took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Sam Kane would score the only goal of the second half to give Indiana Wesleyan a 3-0 lead. Keaton Albert (JR/Park City, Ill.) and Jacob Beerman (SR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) were credited with assists.
Indiana Wesleyan and Mount Vernon Nazarene (10-6-2, 5-3-1 CL) each had nine shots. IWU was able to put six on target while MVNU was limited to just three. IWU keeper Josh Goepper (JR/Shelby Township, Mich.) made three saves in net as the Wildcats earned their fourth shutout of the season.
