Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. -- No. 11-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University men’s soccer remains the only perfect squad in the Crossroads League as they defeated host Goshen (Ind.) by a 2-1 score tonight in Goshen, Indiana.
Corey Lopez (JR/Warsaw, Ind.) scored the game-winning goal in the 68th minute to break a 1-1 tie. Pablo Montes (FR/Madrid, Spain) hit a through ball to Lopez who then beat the keeper for the 2-1 lead.
The Wildcats improve to 11-1-0 this season and 5-0-0 in Crossroads League play. Goshen tumbles to 7-6-1 and 2-2-1 in league action. The victory is the 10th consecutive for the Wildcats as they have not lost since August 29.
The Maple Leafs struck first with an early goal in the 12th minute. The lead would last for just 13 minutes as the Wildcats found the equalizer. Lopez struck a crossing ball to the right side of the box where Keaton Albert (JR/Park City, Ill.) connected on a shot from just inside the 18-yard box for the 1-1 tie.
Indiana Wesleyan finished the match with a 20-6 advantage in shots. IWU put eight shots on goal while Goshen managed to have four shots on goal. IWU keeper Josh Goepper (JR/Shelby Township, Mich.) earned the victory in net with two saves.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night as they host Saint Francis (Ind.) at Wildcat Field.
