JACKSON, Mich. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men’s golf team finished in fifth place at Spring Arbor’s Bill Bockwitz Intercollegiate which was played at the Cascades Golf Course in Jackson, Michigan.
Indiana Wesleyan fell one spot Saturday after ending the first round in fourth place on Friday. IWU shot a 300 yesterday and then shot a 305 today for a final score of 605.
Jake Coffey provided a great showing for the Wildcats as he was tied for fourth in the 62-player field. He carded a 147 (75-72) and was just four strokes off the leader. Cody Lysher of Spring Arbor (Mich.) won medalist honors with a 143 (72-71).
Blake Russell was two strokes behind Coffey in eighth place as he completed play with a 149 (76-73). Zach Kinch tallied a 154 (73-81) to finish tied for 21st place, Dalton Miller shot a 155 (76-79) for a 25th place tie, and BJ White rounded out the Wildcats team with a 162 (81-81) for 42nd place.
Two Wildcats played as individuals. Brennan Brooker tied for 13th place with a 152 (74-78) and Taylor Fletcher was 33rd with a 158 (76-82).
Host Spring Arbor won the tournament with a two day score of 594 (291-303). Siena Heights (Mich.) was runner-up with a 598 (304-294) and Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) was third at 599 (287-312). Indiana Wesleyan was fourth at 605 while sixth place was 15 strokes back.
Indiana Wesleyan will take a weekend off before returning to the links on October 4-5 at the Saint Francis Invitational at Brookwood Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
