HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- Once again the top men’s track and field team in the Crossroads League hails from Indiana Wesleyan University. The Wildcats won their fourth consecutive Crossroads League Championship on Saturday and sixth in seven years.

Indiana Wesleyan won by 25 points as the team accumulated 173.5 points over the two-day championship meet in Huntington, Indiana. Spring Arbor (Mich.) University was runner-up at 148.5 points as they edged Taylor (Ind.) University with 147 points.

The Wildcats have won all but one Crossroads League championships since 2007. IWU won back-to-back titles in 2007 and 2008 before a third place finish in 2009. Since that point the Wildcats have won the last four league titles and now own nine all-time.

Highlighting the weekend for Indiana Wesleyan was six individual league champions and 21 All-Crossroads League honors. The top three in any event were named All-League. Indiana Wesleyan had 15 different student-athletes earn league honors in 12 different events.

The Wildcats had two champions in track events and then dominated field events with four champions.

In track events, Indiana Wesleyan took the top two spots in the 400-Meter Hurdles as Andrew Hamilton won with a time of 55.98 seconds and Casey Gauss was just behind him in second place with a time of 55.18 seconds. The other track champion was Andrew Albert in the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase. He won the race in a time of 9 minutes 29 seconds and missed the ‘B’ standard qualifying mark for the NAIA National Championship by less than one second. Albert was also named All-League in the 5,000-Meter Run as he crossed the line third in a time of 15:28.

Michael Moffitt, Darrian Mikell, Kyle Abney, and Adam Miller all won league championships in field events.

Moffitt leaped 6 feet 8 inches in the High Jump to outdistance the field. His jump was a ‘B’ standard for the NAIA National Championship. Mikell won the Long Jump with a distance of 23-2 to win by more than one foot. Abney won the Shot Put with a toss of 52-6.75 feet and teammate James Allen was runner-up with a throw of 51-10.5 feet as both Wildcats surpassed the ‘A’ standard. Miller won the Javelin with a heave of 186-1 feet to claim a ‘B’ standard and win the championship by more than 14 feet.

Allen had a second runner-up finish in addition to his spot in the Shot Put. He was also runner-up in the Discus with a distance of 154-3 feet. Gauss earned All-League status in both a track and field event. Gauss did so in the 400 Hurdles in addition to the Pole Vault. In the vault, Gauss earned a height of 14-5.25 feet for third place.

Malcolm Dias was runner-up in the 400-Meter Dash in a time of 50.37 seconds and John Wilson crossed the line third in the 10,000-Meter Run in 33:09.

Two relay teams reached All-League status. Hansen Martin, Justin Shaffer, Hamilton, and Dias were runner-up in the 4x400 Relay in a time of 3:21. Jay Filson, Jordan Easley, Andy Lipiec, and Jake Smith finished the 4x100 Relay in 42.82 seconds for a third place finish.
