CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Indiana Wesleyan University men’s cross country continued postseason competition this week at the NCCAA National Championship in Cedarville, Ohio. It is the second of three weeks of postseason races.
Indiana Wesleyan will race next Saturday in the NAIA National Championship in Lawrence, Kansas. Those seven runners that will race in Kansas did not compete today in the NCCAA nationals.
The Wildcats placed 19th of 33 teams today in Cedarville as the national championship meet featured NCCAA Division I and Division II programs. IWU amassed 501 points in the race and was second of four Crossroads League teams at the meet. Azusa Pacific (Calif.) edged Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) 84-87 to win the national title.
Matt McAndrews was the first Wildcat across the line on the 8,000-meter course. He was 92nd overall in the 231 runner field in a time of 27:56. Gus Ozmun was close behind in 98th at 28:06 and Grant Keaffaber was 108th in a time of 28:15. Jordan Dekker earned 124th in 28:45 and Garrett Cobb was the final scorer in 127th place in 28:48.
Christian Daugherty just missed the top-five for Indiana Wesleyan as he was 132nd in 28:55. Jacob Aardema was the final Wildcat to finish and he was 178th in 30:45.
Indiana Wesleyan will complete the 2013 season next weekend at the NAIA National Championship in Lawrence, Kansas.
