Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer scored twice in the second half to earn a 2-0 victory over Bellevue (Neb.) in the Bethel Classic in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Corey Lopez scored the first goal of the match in the 58th minute. Geoff Bowman made a nifty pass to find Lopez who then took the ball right past the Bruin goalkeeper and scored the eventual game-winning goal.
In the 69th minute, Indiana Wesleyan doubled their lead with a goal by Keaton Albert. The freshman created a turnover and launched a shot from outside the 18-yard box and beat the keeper to the upper corner for a 2-0 advantage.
Indiana Wesleyan outshot Bellevue 13-5 on the evening and held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. Josh Goepper was the starter in goal for Indiana Wesleyan and earned three saves in the opening period. Zach Hammon got the nod in goal for the second half and did not face a shot on goal for the combined shutout.
The win improves the Wildcats' record to 5-1-1 this season. IWU has won three straight and has not lost in its last five contests. Bellevue drops to 1-6-1.
Indiana Wesleyan returns home to Wildcat Field for its next game when IWU hosts Trinity International (Ill.). That match kicks off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18.
