Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Senior Micah Snyder scored a career-high two goals Wednesday night as the Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer team continued its winning way with a 3-1 victory at Marian (Ind.) University in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The win was the fourth straight for the Wildcats and the team has not lost in its last 12 outings. Overall, the Wildcats are 10-1-3 and 5-0-1 in the Crossroads League. IWU leads the league by two points and the Wildcats are the lone unbeaten team in league play.
Indiana Wesleyan scored the first goal on Wednesday in the 12th minute. Junior midfielder Geoff Bowman played the ball into Snyder who chipped the shot over the Marian keeper for the early 1-0 advantage.
Freshman forward Corey Lopez added to the Indiana Wesleyan lead 20 minutes later. Lopez scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 33rd minute to stretch the lead to 2-0. Bowman was credited with his team-best ninth assist on the season.
Marian cut the deficit in half with a goal in the 39th minute. The 2-1 Indiana Wesleyan lead held into halftime as IWU built a 10-4 advantage in shots.
Snyder would record the only score in the final 45 minutes with a goal in the 56th minute. Lopez figured into his second score of the night with an assist.
Freshman Josh Goepper earned another victory in net for Indiana Wesleyan. He made one save on two chances while Indiana Wesleyan held a 15-9 advantage in shots. IWU put seven shots on target while Marian managed just two.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to Wildcat Field on Saturday for the final time during the 2012 regular season. IWU hosts Bethel (Ind.) College at 7 p.m. on Senior Night.
