Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer responded to last night's loss with a 4-1 win over Indiana Tech at the Bethel Classic in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Wildcat sophomore forward Devin Randle opened the scoring with a goal in the 16th minute. Randle earned the chance on a breakaway to record his first collegiate goal.
Indiana Wesleyan continued to attack the rest of the half but was unable to double their lead. IWU finished the first half with four shots on goal and six corner kicks.
The offense continued to put heavy pressure on Indiana Tech in the second half and finally broke through for their second tally in the 64th minute. Sophomore midfielder Geoff Bowman was credited with the goal for his first of the season and a 2-0 Indiana Wesleyan lead.
Three minutes later, senior forward Erik Johnson broke free and beat the Tech keeper for a 3-0 advantage.
Junior forward Seth Douwsma and Bowman connected for the final Wildcat goal with a give and go. Douwsma found the back of the net for his first score of the season.
The Warriors avoided a shutout with a late score as the Wildcats leave Mishawaka with a 4-1 win. The victory ups the IWU record to 4-2 while Indiana Tech falls to 5-2. Both teams are receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 Poll.
Indiana Wesleyan will finally return home for a match at Wildcat Field next weekend. IWU will host Siena Heights (Mich.) University at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 16 and then University of Saint Francis (Ill.) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 17.
