SPRING ARBOR -- Spring Arbor (Mich.) University tied the match in the final minute and then scored the golden goal just 23 seconds into overtime to eliminate the Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer team 4-3 in the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament First Round.

No. 6-seed Indiana Wesleyan had trailed 2-1 before storming back late with goals in the 80th and 85th minutes to suddenly lead 3-2. But No. 3-seed Spring Arbor's miraculous goals capped a wild ending which featured four goals:  two match tying-goals and two go-ahead goals in 10 minutes time.

Senior midfielder Ross Tanzer had given Indiana Wesleyan the lead very early in the contest. He turned a bobble by the SAU keeper into a 1-0 advantage in the third minute of play.

The score remained 1-0 until the Cougars tied it 1-1 in the 57th minute. Ten minutes later, SAU captured their first lead of the night by a 2-1 margin in the 67th minute.

The next goal was the beginning of the zany finish.

Senior defender David Enger sent a pass towards goal that Tanzer headed in for his second score of the night to tie the match 2-2 in the 80th minute. Five minutes later sophomore midfielder Geoff Bowman found a loose ball in the box and pushed it to the back of the net to give IWU a 3-2 lead in the 85th minute.

The Wildcats (10-9-0) were unable to clear a ball in the backfield which the Cougars took advantage of during the final minute of the match to tie the score 3-3 and send the two teams into overtime.

Spring Arbor (10-6-3) meticulously moved the ball down the field to begin the overtime period and scored the game-winner 23 seconds later to advance to the MCC Tournament Semifinals against No. 2-seed Bethel (Ind.) College.
