KENDALLVILLE, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University holds a slight three stroke lead after one day of the Mid-Central College Conference Golf Championship at Cobblestone Golf Course in Kendallville, Indiana.
Indiana Wesleyan shot a 36-hole score of 588 with 18-hole scores of 291 and 297. Marian (Ind.) University is three strokes back at 591 (296-295) while Huntington (Ind.) University is 13 strokes off the lead with a 601 (310-291).
The MCC Championship is a 54-hole tournament held on Monday and Tuesday. Monday features 36-holes while the Tuesday finale is 18-holes.
Austin Conroy led the Wildcats on Monday with a two-under par, 142 (68-74). Conroy is currently in second place in the 44 player field and is two strokes behind Marian's Trey Pfund who leads the field with a 140 (68-72).
Joe Madda is tied for fourth place with a 149 (72-77) and Brett Cecil also is in the top-10, tied for seventh at 150 (81-69). Matt Milholland is one stroke behind Cecil and is tied for 11th with a score of 151 (74-77) while Adlai Deisler is tied for 26 with a 157 (77-80).
The program that wins the MCC Championship will earn the conference's automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship being held in Silvis, Illinois on May 18-21.
No. 12-ranked Indiana Wesleyan will look to hold their lead at the MCC Championship on Tuesday morning for the conclusion of the 54-hole championship.
