MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Bethel (Ind.) College scored two unanswered goals en route to a 2-1 victory Saturday night over Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer in the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament Championship in Mishawaka, Indiana.

No. 8-ranked Bethel remains unbeaten with an 18-0-1 record and earns an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship.

Indiana Wesleyan (8-10-1) looked to crash the national tournament with an upset and scored the first goal of the match in the 29th minute. Junior midfielder Austin Bock scored his team-leading fifth goal off an assist from junior midfielder Mitch Lobdell.

The Wildcats held the lead for less than 12 minutes as the Pilots tied the score just before halftime. Zach Ganzberg scored his first of two goals on the night right at the 42 minute mark to knot the score at 1-1 as the teams headed into halftime tied.

Indiana Wesleyan senior goalkeeper Spenser Lang was active during the first half. Bethel outshot Indiana Wesleyan 12-5 in the opening period and Lang was forced to make six saves.

Early in the second half Ganzberg struck once again for Bethel with a goal in the 51st minute. His second goal of the contest was the eventual game-winner as Bethel led 2-1.

Bethel once again outshot Indiana Wesleyan in the second half by an 11-5 margin. Trailing by a goal, IWU was able to put two shots on goal during the final 45 minutes but Pilot goalkeeper Cody Troyer was able to stop both attempts and preserve the unbeaten season for Bethel.

In all, Bethel held a 23-10 advantage in shots and 11-5 in shots on goal. Lang completed the match with nine saves in 11 attempts.

Indiana Wesleyan will now participate in the NCCAA Midwest Regional Tournament for a right to play in the NCCAA National Championship. Indiana Wesleyan will host the regional championship at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 21 at Wildcat Field against the winner of Cedarville (Ohio) University and Grace (Ind.) College.
