Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. (Box Score) -- In a critical Mid-Central College Conference men's soccer match on Wednesday night the Goshen (Ind.) College Maple Leafs slipped past Indiana Wesleyan University 1-0 in double overtime.
The Goshen victory secures second place in the MCC for the Maple Leafs with a 6-2-0 record. Indiana Wesleyan is now tied for third place with Grace (Ind.) College at 4-3-0 The Wildcats will battle Grace on Saturday in the MCC finale for both teams with third place on the line.
IWU would have had the inside track for the second seed in the MCC Tournament with a win over Goshen tonight.
Goshen scored the golden goal at the 4:30 mark of the second overtime to secure the victory. Juan Diaz de Leon hit a crossing ball from the right side to an awaiting Connor Histand who beat IWU keeper Spenser Lang from close range.
Lang was stellar in net all night for the Wildcats. The senior made 12 saves on 13 shots on goal. Goshen outshot Indiana Wesleyan 18-13 on the night.
Indiana Wesleyan is now 5-10-1 overall while Goshen improves to 11-6-1.
The Wildcats complete the regular season on Saturday night with a home match against Grace. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Field and Senior Night will be celebrated following the contest.
