Box Score MARION, Ind. -- Junior goalkeeper Spenser Lang collected two saves for the Indiana Wesleyan University men's soccer team on Saturday evening in a 3-0 shutout over visiting Spring Arbor (Mich.) University at Wildcat Field.
The staunch Wildcat defense limited the Cougars to just four shots all night.
Indiana Wesleyan scored early to take a 1-0 lead. Spring Arbor committed a foul in the 18-yard box in the fourth minute of play, setting up a penalty kick goal for Joel Trainer.
Midway through the opening stanza, Mitch Lobdell increased the Indiana Wesleyan advantage to 2-0.
The Wildcats took the 2-0 lead into halftime and did not let up in the second half.
No. 19-ranked Indiana Wesleyan continued to control play and finally cracked the Cougar defense for a
third goal. Senior Christian Davis found Joel Trainer who easily beat the Spring Arbor keeper for a 3-0 IWU lead.
On the night, the Wildcats out-shot the Cougars by a 12-4 margin.
Indiana Wesleyan ups their record to 8-6-0 on the season and 4-0-0 in Mid-Central College Conference action. IWU has won six of their last seven matches. Spring Arbor tumbles to 7-3-2 and 2-2-1 in conference play.
The Wildcats return to the field at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, as Indiana Wesleyan hosts conference rival Bethel (Ind.) College at Wildcat Field.
