Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College found the back of the net in the 67th minute following a corner kick as Indiana Wesleyan University lost their first match of the season 1-0 in a battle of NAIA Top-10 teams.
The No. 6-ranked Wildcats first lost of the season came to seven-time NAIA National Champions and the current No. 5 ranked Blue Raiders.
Both squads had chances to score in the first half of action. Indiana Wesleyan had multiple scoring chances that just missed off of corner kicks. Neither team was able to earn the early advantage as the teams went to intermission deadlocked at 0-0. Lindsey Wilson outshot Indiana Wesleyan 9-4 in the opening half.
The second half belonged to the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson supplied consistent pressure on the Indiana Wesleyan defense, but the Wildcats held firm until the 66:15 mark. Lindsey Wilson earned a corner kick and served the ball to the front of the net. After multiple touches in the front of the Wildcat goal, Blue Raider midfielder Nathaniel Jafta struck the ball past Wildcat goalkeeper Spencer Lang.
Indiana Wesleyan held strong and was able to force an attack on the Lindsey Wilson defense, but were unable to get a shot on goal. Lindsey Wilson outshot Indiana Wesleayn 8-0 in the second half.
Lang made 11 saves in net for Indiana Wesleyan while allowing the one goal.
Indiana Wesleyan falls to 8-1-1 this season while Lindsey Wilson improves to 9-1-0. The Wildcats return to action at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, as IWU plays Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina.
